Some bookies suspended betting yesterday on who the next Peterborough United manager would be. The club have today announced that caretaker boss Dave Robertson is to become the full-time manager!
It`s been very quiet at the ABAX Stadium since the final match of the season relating to the next manager of Posh up until the last couple of days!
Dave Robertson ended the season as caretaker boss and held a 2-day meeting with Chairman Darragh MacAnthony shortly after the final match of the season. MacAnthony has continually said that he would interview 5 or 6 people for the managerial position but remarkably, it has been deafly silent.
A number of Posh players have come out in the local newspaper backing Robertson and apparently a raft of bets for Robbo to become the next Posh manager has resulted in some bookies suspending their betting in the last day or two!
Today [Friday, 22nd May, 2015], Peterborough United have announced that Dave Robertson has been given a three-year contract and will be assisted by Grant McCann.
Having taken over the managerial reins on a caretaker basis from Darren Ferguson in February, MacAnthony has been impressed with how Robbo has performed and how he has interacted with the players, fans and MacAnthony himself.
“I always wanted to hand over the reins full time to both Dave and Grant based on my experience of working with them for the short period of time last season,” MacAnthony told the club website.
“I felt it my duty to the club and its supporters to take my time with the process and interview other candidates to 100% make sure my decision was the correct one.”
