League Two table-toppers Chesterfield have taken Peterborough United`s Danny Kearns on loan for a month.

Danny Kearns skips round his man v Swindon

The 22-year-old has completed a one-month loan deal with promotion chasing Chesterfield after failing to break into the Posh starting line-up.

He will initially stay at the Proact Stadium until 14th April and will meet up with his teammates in time for tonights match at AFC Wimbledon. He will wear the number 29 shirt.

Kearns is out of contract at the end of the season and it is believed he will be released so it is in his best interests to look elsewhere and joining a team that is having a great deal of success this season couldn`t be any better. He has played 14 times for Posh this season and was on the winning side 11 times!

The Irishman has been blighted with injury since arriving at Posh but when fit, he has been a good player for Posh and actually started the season in the starting eleven. Sadly, injury struck again and he has been unable to force his way back into the side.

Spireites boss Paul Cook is pleased to have Kearns on board especially after losing Dan Gardner to injury at the weekend as he said: “He’s a player we’ve been monitoring for a long time. He’s very bright in his forward play and we look forward to working with him.”

The only downside to his loan is that he is now ineligible to play for Posh in the Johnstone`s Paint Trophy Final at Wembley when they face Chesterfield. He is also unable to play for Chesterfield having previously played in the second round match for Posh against Brentford. Posh will be down to the bare bones for the Wembley final as so many players at the club now are cup-tied while others have either moved on in permanent deals or have gone out on loan.
