Posh continued on their merry promotion way with an emphatic win at Edgeley Park. With MK Dons losing, the automatic promotion places look that much closer.
Forget the fact two of our goals were own goals, Posh were up for this one and produced a display that what a credit to Darren Ferguson and his management team.
Posh took to the pitch with Shaun Batt occupying the much debated right wing slot and Andrew Crofts restored, after being cup-tied last week, to the central midfield.
Despite being the away side, Posh were much the more accomplished side in the first half with Craig Mackail-Smith forcing a couple of fine saves out of the Stockport keeper.
The breakthrough finally came with twenty-two minutes on the clock and once again Mackail-Smith was prominent in the build up, his forceful run to the by-line and subsequent cross being turned into his own net by the unfortunate Michael Raynes.
The home side could have equalised eight minutes before half time when Raynes almost redeemed himself but, thankfully for us, headed a Pilkington cross wide.
However, the home side were level seven minutes into the second half when a corner was insufficiently dealt with by the Posh defence and Pilkington saw his shot enter the net via the post.
Thankfully, Posh were not prepared to accept a point and just past the hour mark that man Mackail-Smith put us back into the lead lashing home, on the volley, a George Boyd cross.
Any thoughts of a Stockport comeback were killed off with a quarter of an hour to go when Posh benefited from another own goal. This time the unfortunate victim was James Tunnicliffe, not that we were that bothered.
Three more points, the unbeaten run stretched to fifteen and a massive game with the League One leaders on the horizon.
Tonight, it feels good to be a Posh supporter!
