Stunning Strike Wins It For Forest

A stunning strike from Andy Reid settled a tight game which saw Nottingham Forest come away from London Road with all three points.

With Posh looking to win their third match in a row, confidence was high but Forest were also determined to halt a run of poor results and get their first away win of the season in the Championship.

Forest started the stronger before Posh grew into the game but it was Forest that always looked the most threatening in the first half.

Fortunately for Posh, goalkeeper Bobby Olejnik [pictured below] finally had the chance to show the home crowd why Posh brought him in to replace the departing Joe Lewis and Paul Jones. He made outstanding saves in both halves but most noticeably, in the second half he may a double save when faced one on one with the opposition. That was at a time when Posh were pushing forward for a deserved equaliser but the Forest rearguard stood firm and it was the opposition keeper, Lee Camp, who made a number of crucial saves to keep his team ahead.

There were a number of other good performances from the men in blue and it was former Forest loanee George Boyd who was the star outfield player for Posh.

The International break this week will give the Posh players a well deserved rest as a few of them looked a bit weary legged as the game wore on. Captain Tommy Rowe was again substituted because of this but it also appeared Craig Alcock and Michael Bostwick may be feeling the effects of the past few games as they put in below par performances.

The change in personnel and formation has definitely made Posh a lot harder for teams to breakdown. It has though, diluted our attacking threat as we look to catch teams on the break which doesn`t work to the strengths of Tyrone Barnett! Yes, he is a threat from set pieces and rarely loses a header but I don`t think we`ve seen the best of him yet. At times, such as Saturday when he was having an off-day, he needs to be replaced instead of his strike partner who looked the more likely to score.

If Posh can keep performing as they have done in the past three matches, there should be no surprise that Posh can stay up this season by reaching the magical 50 point mark again. We all need to have belief in what Fergie is doing even if we don`t always agree with the decisions he makes.

We`re 10 games into the season, which is just under a quarter of the season, and it`s fair to say we`ve not started very well but the way Fergie has changed things around and the players have come together suggests we should see a dramatic improvement in the next quarter of the season.
