Who has won the first Posh Player of the Month poll for the season?
Posh have started off the season in excellent fashion winning four of their five League matches and sitting proudly top of League One.
It`s a bit of a surprise to find the team top of the table when you think that they lost their top scorer from last season just days before the season kicked off and about the injury list that has been expanding each week.
Posh lost both central defenders during the first match and things got worse from there. At one stage, Darren Ferguson was forced to call up some under 18`s to fill the substitutes bench!
Despite that, the squad have proved that they have the strength in depth that will be needed this season if they are to have a successful attempt at gaining promotion back to the Championship.
Kyle Vassell has stepped up to the plate to try to fill Assombalonga`s shoes and notched four goals during the month with all the other goals being spread around the team?which is always a good sign. Posh have scored nine goals in total during the month.
Ben Alnwick also came in to the club fairly late on and is now the new number one. He has still to convince a few die-hard Olejnik fans but overall he has had a decent start to life as the Posh keeper. He has conceded six goals in six matches keeping a clean sheet once; against Rochdale on the opening day of the season.
