There was very little to choose between Posh and the Latics when the two sides went into the interval goalless. The Posh battled away but had problems completing their passes while rarely threatening the goal.

The riot act must`ve been read at half-time as Posh put in a much better performance in the second half. The back four were keeping any threat away from the Posh goal with only two efforts finding the target but goalkeeper Jonathan Bond was in the way.

Anthony Grant was much more effective in the second 45 minutes while Chris Forrester started to find his passes reaching their intended targets. Junior Morias may have opened the scoring for Posh eight minutes into the second half but playing in midfield often doesn`t suit him especially when he comes back to collect the ball from the defenders! Danny Lloyd didn`t have the best of games so it was no surprise that he was replaced by Joe Ward to make his home debut.

Marcus Maddison was also replaced in the second half but it`s unsure whether this was due to an injury as he quickly headed down the tunnel. His replacement was debutant George Cooper who not only found himself on the pitch for 20 minutes but he scored the second goal following a sweet pass from Forrester.

Jack Marriott wrapped up the scoring in the 90th minute when converting the penalty he won for a very soft trip.

The win moved Posh up one place to eighth, leapfrogging Portsmouth who lost one-nil at Rotherham United; Joe Mattock scored the only goal of the game in the 91st minute!

The Latics dropped down two places to 22nd following this latest defeat after AFC Wimbledon and Northampton Town both won their matches to move out of the relegation places; the latter beating MK Dons who now occupy the final relegation place!
