The Vital Posh Man of the Match Poll is now up and running for the JP Trophy Quarter-Final match between Peterborough United and Dagenham & Redbridge.

Britt Assombalonga scores the only goal v Dagenham

Posh marched into the semi-finals of the JP Trophy following a single goal victory over Dagenham and Redbridge.

The match itself was another dour affair in front of nearly 5,000 who ventured out in the cold to take advantage of the generous offer of the £5 entry fee.

Posh worked hard and efficiently and reduced the opposition to just 1 shot on target all match! The 3-5-2 formation worked well again but the big test will be when they come up against League One opposition.

Shaun Brisley once again impressed in the centre of the back three as Posh controlled the game but the wing backs, Kgosi Ntlhe and Mark Little, failed to spark. Ntlhe could be dropped to the bench on Monday when they face Walsall if Tommy Rowe is fit.

Nathaniel Mendez-Laing partnered Britt Assombalonga up front and it was his persistence that lead to the goal in the second half. He stole the ball off a Daggers defender before putting the ball on a plate for Assombalonga to tap in.

Overall it was a professional display by Posh albeit a boring one. Posh will face tougher hurdles throughout the season and will have to raise their game accordingly but by winning this encounter, they are just three matches away from a Wembley appearance.
