West Ham United have had a bid for Peterborough United`s teenage striker Jaanai Gordon rejected.

Jaanai Gordon v Brentford

17-year-old Jaanai Gordon has just returned from a three week trial at West Ham United in which he made a number of impressive appearances.

The teenager scored a brace for the under 18s against Aston Villa and then did the same for the under 21 side against Gillingham which was particularly impressive as he was only on the pitch for 20 minutes!

He then stepped up a level again playing in a first team friendly against Millwall in which he scored the equaliser in a 2-2 draw and almost scored the winner.

Hammers boss Sam Allardyce has been away on holiday so has missed the majority of Gordon`s performances but his coaching staff gave him a glowing reference which culminated in a bid this morning [Friday, 22th November].

Posh rejected the bid as Director of Football, Barry Fry, explains: “Jaanai has been excellent for the Hammers in the last two weeks, both in training sessions and in friendly fixtures and the staff at West Ham believe he has enormous potential.

“Sam Allardyce has been away on holiday in Dubai and returned to training on Thursday where he discussed the situation with his staff and then the joint-owner David Sullivan. A bid was then made on Friday morning, but we have rejected that offer.”
