Peterborough United have a break from League proceedings this weekend as they face non-league Woking in the second round of the FA Cup. What do you think the score will be?

Posh have a welcome break from League action this weekend when they take a trip to Surrey to face National League side Woking.

Like Posh, the Cardinals sit just outside the play-offs in their League having finished 18th last season. They`ve also enjoyed their fair share of giant killing having beaten Barnet twice in replays in successive seasons.

In 1996-97, the Cardinals enjoyed a run to the third round as they beat Division Two side Millwall, who were sitting top of the League at that point, and Cambridge United, who were challenging for promotion from Division Three. The third round saw Woking given an away fixture at Premier League side Coventry City. They managed a one-all draw thanks to a last minute equaliser from the Cards’ Steve Thompson, but the Sky Blues won the replay at Kingfield 2-1.

The first round of the FA Cup this season also saw Woking pitched against a League side. Struggling League One side Bury scored in the opening minute of the match but it was the home side that hit the back of the net next. After 25 minutes, Jamie Philpot headed in an equaliser earning the non-league side a second stab at the cherry. That second stab ended in an impressive three-nil victory with Philpot claiming the third goal, four minutes from time.

Posh were also held to a one-all draw in the first round as they struggled against non-league Tranmere Rovers. The replay was a completely different kettle of fish as Posh started strongly causing Rovers no end of trouble and it was a surprise that it took Posh 16 minutes to open the scoring. Posh doubled their advantage six minutes later before the home side were reduced to 10-men following a rash challenge. Posh cruised the remainder of the match scoring three more times to end with a convincing five-nil victory.

The clash on Sunday will be the first time the two sides have met in competitive action.
