Peterborough United striker Tyrone Barnett looks set to move to League one rivals Bristol City.

Tyrone Barnett celebrating v Bristol City

Bristol City are rumoured to have agreed terms with Posh to sign striker Tyrone Barnett.

Posh signed the striker for a record £1.1 million from Crawley Town in 2012 but his form has varied during his time at Posh. After an impressive start to his London Road career, his form dived as he was playing with an injury which eventually caught up with him.

Following a non-footballing incident early last season, he was farmed out to Championship side Ipswich Town whom he impressed until injury cut short his loan. The Tractor Boys have been keeping tabs on him ever since and were keen to sign him but the Robins have beaten them to the striker who has 7 goals to his name this season including one against the Robins earlier this season.

Posh fans have mixed feelings over the tall striker who always puts himself about although his gangling legs give the impression he labours about the pitch.

Barnett was certainly a square peg in a round hole at Posh as Posh never played to Barnett`s strength and if the Robins do play to his strengths then they will have a very good League One striker to play alongside their 17-goal forward Jay Emmanuel-Thomas.

The 28-year-old forward is expected at Ashton Gate today [Monday, 6th January] for a medical ahead of finalising a loan deal which will last until the end of the season.
