Another good day at the office!

After, in his pre-match brief, suggesting he`d take a 1-0 over the 5-4 of the corresponding game this season, Darren Ferguson got his wish!

In fact winning by the odd goal is fast becoming a Posh trait as we close in on that automatic promotion place we all crave.

That craving is fast looking like becoming a reality because as Posh trundle along winning by the odd goal, our rivals continue to slip up.

Today saw both Leicester and MK Dons drop points with drawing, 1-1 and 0-0 respectively.

Those results leave us seven points adrift of Leicester, who are top, with the tantalising prospect of that being reduced to four points if we can beat them next Saturday.

Behind us, we`re now not capable of being overtaken by MK Dons if they win their two games in hand, instead it looks as if the late promotion charge of Millwall, following their win over Hartlepool, may make them our closest rivals for that crucial second place.

For the fixture, Darren Ferguson relied on Chris Westwood to replace the suspended Gabriel Zakuani with Craig Morgan not considered fit enough to return from injury.

Elsewhere the eleven were pretty much as we anticipated with Mackail-Smith, McLean and Boyd providing the attacking impetus.

Indeed, it was the middle of those three who caused the damage scoring the only goal of the game.

Posh had been gradually getting on top when, in the 70th minute, Aaron turned in the box and fired his shot past the keeper, the goal, his 17th of the campaign, was enough and now promotion is in our own hands, let`s hope we don`t slip up.

Win the lot and it`s the Championship for us!
