Peterborough United`s Christian Burgess looks to be the first transfer listed player to be leaving the ABAX as Portsmouth make their move for the centre back.

Christian Burgess v Coventry

It looks like Portsmouth could well be challenging for promotion next season after changing manager and bringing in a number of very good players.

Former Chesterfield boss Paul Cook has taken over the reins at Pompey after guiding the Spireites to promotion from League Two and then the League One play-offs. He has brought in the influential Gary Roberts from his former club along with a number of other young but experienced players.

Cook`s next signing looks to be coming from the ABAX in the form of central defender Christian Burgess. Posh have accepted an offer from Pompey for the former Middlesbrough player, who will now undergo a medical before completing his move when he returns from holiday.

The other Posh player rumoured to be interesting Pompey is Joe Newell. The Posh player of the year is attracting interest from a number of different clubs including some from the Championship but no offers have yet been received by the club.
