Coventry 3 Posh 2

Going to the Ricoh Arena, and with Coventry in a run of form that was as bad as ours, I was optimistic of a Posh win.

The score line, however, confirms that if luck is to play a major part in our Championship survival then Mark Cooper hadn`t better of broken any mirrors in recent years.

Our hopes of bringing three points back to London Road were dashed by a Freddie Eastwood hat trick. Now Eastwood was a prolific scorer at Southend but has struggled to hit a barn door since joining Coventry, which just goes to show that our luck really is out at the minute.

But we can return to training with our heads held high. The match statistics show that Posh were the better team, had more chances and on another day could have walked off with the three points.

Once again, after a bright start, matters were not helped by the fact a common problem surfaced again yesterday, namely our ability to concede goals in quick succession.

For thirty three minutes we`d looked the better team but two minutes of mayhem, in our box, undone all that good work. Firstly, with 34 minutes gone, Van Aanholt played a ball into our box, Barnett flicked it on and Eastwood plundered a goal.

A minute later, with the home fans still celebrating the opening goal of the game, Eastwood notched a second finishing of a move that saw Best provide the assist.

Two goals down at half time, Posh had it all to do but too their credit they mounted a magnificent comeback. Pushing Coventry back, Boyd provided the assist for Mackail-Smith to score his seventh of the season, after 66 minutes.

Five minutes later, Posh were, remarkably level when a long range shot by Boyd was parried by the keeper and Mackail-Smith hit his eighth of the season. Cue pandemonium amongst the away support.

Sadly, we were brought back down to earth with a bump a minute later. A free kick from Gunnarsson was helped on by Best and there was Eastwood to hit his hat trick goal.

The goal not only deprived us of at least of a share of the spoils but it made it a right old miserable journey home as our season tilts from one set back to another!
