Posh – Dumfounded!

Anyone else a little bemused by the events of recent weeks?

I was always under the impression that the arrival of a new manager heralded a period of success. Okay it may be temporary and things often return to normal after a short period of time, but at Posh we seemed to have dipped out on that joyous period.

Instead, we`re now seven points adrift of safety, it may not sound much but when you consider its fifty per cent of the points we`ve managed to achieve all season things start to look bleak.

After coming back from the dead, against Coventry, only to let it slip again so soon after getting that equaliser, the mutterings from within the camp sounded a little all too familiar.

First up was our manager, Mark Cooper, who bemoaned the lack of concentration by the defence,

“We didn`t defend the set pieces. Players were just not doing their jobs.”

Hang on! Isn`t that something Darren Ferguson was always harping on about?

But, secondly, Craig Mackail-Smith hits the nail perfectly on the head when he comments,

“We felt we`d got ourselves back in the game. To throw it away is very hard to take.”

And that is exactly what we did – we threw it away after looking to be the better team and having done the hard work!
