Vital Posh looks at the form of both Crewe Alexandra and Peterborough United ahead of this weekend`s Sky Bet League One match.

Crewe Away

Both teams suffered disappointing defeats in their last League outing. Alex were stuffed 5-0 at Swindon Town who look to be getting better and better as their loan signings bed in while Posh suffered a 2-0 defeat at home to Crawley Town.

Crewe dropped down to 19th following their defeat to Swindon while Posh dropped one place to third following their defeat.

Crewe Alexandra

After finishing last season in 13th place, many Alex fans were hoping for an improvement but they`ve not started off very well.

An opening day 3-3 draw with Rotherham United was followed up with a 3-2 defeat at League Two side Bury in the Capital One Cup. A narrow defeat at MK Dons was next up before Crewe got their first win under their belts. Two goals from teenager Ryan Colclough [pictured below] helped Alex to a 2-1 win but they were to meet the League One in-form side in Leyton Orient next!

No surprises that Alex suffered defeat in that match and then they went from bad to worse when suffering that 5-0 defeat to Swindon.

Alex did have a Johnstone`s Paint Trophy first round match on Tuesday [3rd September] against Accrington Stanley. It was a close affair with Alex nicking the only goal of the game eleven minutes from time!

Crewe have only scored eight goals in all competitions this season. Chuks Aneke, Ryan Colclough and Harry Davis all have two goals each. Max Clayton and Anthony Grant have a goal each.

Peterborough United

Posh failed to break a 51-year club record after failing to win their fifth League match in a row from the start of the season.

After wins over Swindon Town, Notts County, Oldham Athletic and Tranmere Rovers, Posh failed to break down an excellent Crawley Town side who deservedly won the match 2-0.

Four wins out of the first 5 League matches is still a record to be proud of but it is now how Posh will react to their first defeat of the season.

Lee Tomlin with his match ball v Reading

Having scored 23 goals in 7 competitive matches this season, the goals have been spread around 9 different players but it is Lee Tomlin [pictured above] who has edged ahead of Britt Assombalonga in the scoring stakes with 6 goals compared to Britt`s five goals.

Transfer listed duo Tyrone Barnett and Tommy Rowe both have three goals each with Grant McCann on two. Four other players have also notched a goal this season.
