Fergie Wants His Ball Back

Peterborough United boss Darren Ferguson is to re-call striker David Ball from his loan spell at Rochdale.

Ball went out on loan when Posh had a glut of forwards all banging on the door for a first team spot.

With the number of substitutes being reduced to 5 this season, it dramatically affects the chances some players will get to play in the first team. Added to the number of forward options Ferguson could choose from, it was felt a loan move for Ball would be in the best interests of everyone.

Prior to his loan move he had notched 3 goals for Posh. Unless he scores in his final Rochdale game at the weekend, he will return having scored the same number of goals for Rochdale.

Fellow Posh striker Nicky Ajose has also departed in a similar move since Ball has been at Rochdale but with an injury to Lee Tomlin, there has been no striking options available on the Posh bench in the last 2 games.

Ball will return to Posh after Rochdales game away at Bournemouth on Saturday.

Ferguson commented: “‘Bally` will be back next week. He is a finisher who has showed he can score goals.

“We also hope to have Lee Tomlin fit. He should be okay to train from the middle of next week and that will give me two more good options.”
