Vital Posh looks at previous matches between Crewe Alexandra and Peterborough United ahead of this weekends Sky Bet Football League One match.

Crewe Away

Crewe and Posh have played each other on 44 occasions with every match being a League match.

Posh have by far and away the better record having won 26 of the 44 matches with Crewe winning just 10 matches!

The last time Crewe and Posh met was five seasons ago in 2008/09. Posh won 4-2 at London Road while they came away with a 1-1 draw in the corresponding fixture that season.

Posh nearly came away with all three points though after Aaron McLean had given them a 14th minute lead only to see Tom Pope equalise for the home side with just two minutes remaining. Two yellow cards were issued during the game which both went to Posh players. Gaby Zakuani received one of them with substitute Micah Hyde being the other.

The last 10 results between these two sides were:

2008/09 27 Jan 09 Peterborough 4 2 Crewe League One

Last Time Out at Crewe

Tom Pope’s late equaliser earned Crewe a point and eased the pressure on manager Steve Holland.

There were calls for his head before the match even began and things got worse when Aaron McLean ignored claims he was offside to fire Posh ahead.

A fine Steve Collis save stopped Craig Mackail-Smith making it 2-0 and Posh had strong penalty shouts turned down when Shaun Batt was brought down.

With just two minutes remaining, Joel Grant crossed for Pope to turn the ball home.
