Are newly promoted Lincoln City interested in signing transfer-listed Peterborough United striker Lee Angol?

Posh striker Lee Angol is one of eleven players placed on the transfer list following the conclusion of another disappointing season.

The striker suffered a broken leg in the very first pre-season game at Boston United and struggled to make an impact on his return. Angol and Posh both agreed that it would be in Angol`s best interests to go out on loan to get much-needed match practice and to hopefully boost his confidence by finding the back of the net regularly.

The 22-year-old spent the final two months of the season with the Imps and it looked like a match made in heaven when he scored a hat-trick on his debut against Braintree Town. Unfortunately, he only scored two more goals during his stint at the National League Champions.

On returning to the club after helping the Imps to the title, Angol soon found himself on the transfer list.

There is an option for the Imps to buy Angol, which was agreed as part of the original loan deal, as Posh Director of Football, Barry Fry, admitted but he also hinted that he wouldn`t be returning to Lincoln after the player turned the club down! “We have accepted a bid for Angol from Lincoln, but he doesn`t want to go there. He thinks he can play higher,” admitted Barry Fry to the Peterborough Telegraph.

However, in a tweet from Angol that has now been deleted, the player said: “Don`t believe everything you read”!

Was that a hint to what Fry had said?
