Peterborough United boss Darren Ferguson is pondering whether to recall David Ball from his loan spell at Rochdale and send fellow striker Nicky Ajose out on loan.

It is rumoured League One rivals Bury and Scunthorpe United are interested in taking Nicky Ajose on loan.

Ajose only joined the Posh in the summer from Manchester United for an undisclosed fee thought to be around £300,000, after they beat a host of clubs to his signature.

Ajose, 19, spent part of last season on loan at Bury where he helped them to promotion from League Two. He chipped in with 13 goals during his spell there.

As well as Bury being interested in bringing him back to Gigg Lane on loan, Scunthorpe United are also believed to be interested in his services. Scunthorpe are now managed by Alan Knill who was manager at Bury during Ajose’s time there.

His Posh career has so far lasted less than 30 minues as he pulled his hamstring early into his debut for Posh on the opening day of the season.

He is now back to full fitness but Posh are ready to let him go out on loan.

David Ball, on the other hand, is currently on a three month loan at League One side Rochdale. Since joining Dale, Ball has scored 3 goals. His loan spell is due to expire on 1st December 2011.

‘I’ve let David Ball go out and get some football at a decent level and he’s done very well,’ Ferguson told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire.

‘It might be a case of David coming back and Nicky going out.’

He added: ‘I’ve got to consider the players and I’ve got to keep them up to scratch, maybe the month away will have done David some good.’
