Posh’s front line looks considerably weaker since the £6million sale of star striker Dwight Gayle, and Falkirk’s Lyle Taylor was rumoured to be his replacement.

The 23 year old hit an impressive 24 goals in 34 games last term, and it was strongly suggested that Posh were competing with Middlesbrough, Rotherham and Hibernian for his signature.

However, when asked if Posh were interested in the 6ft 2in striker, MacAnthony’s reply was brief, a simple ‘Nope’ from the Irishman seems to have put an end to the rumour.

Posh now have just under a month until the start of the 2013/2014 campaign, and looking at the options Darren Ferguson has in attack, a new forward must be high on the agenda.
