What are the Peterborough United manager and players saying about the upcoming match at Notts County?

Notts County Away

Having won both their games this season so far, the confidence in the Posh camp is obviously high. The opening day win over Swindon Town was followed up by a second half demolition of Colchester United in the Capital One Cup.

Posh boss Darren Ferguson is happy with how things have gone so far but insists everyone needs to carry on playing at the top of their game to not only keep their shirt but to break down and defeat the opposition: “The players are performing well and are keeping hold of the shirt, but they know that players who are not in the squad are desperate to be involved and they put in a good display this week in the development game.

“We have arranged development games for the next five weeks so that will keep them in good shape. We go to Notts County on Saturday and I watched them against Fleetwood. They played well and have added to their squad over the summer.

“We have a good following of fans travelling to Meadow Lane and it should be a really good atmosphere,” Ferguson said.

As well as a good atmosphere, Fergie is expecting the match to be a tough one for his side: “County are a decent side. We will certainly have to nullify the threat of their front two. They both scored when I was watching on Wednesday and Haynes is an excellent signing for them.

“They have issues at the back with suspensions, but if we go there thinking we just have to turn up to win we will be making a big mistake.

“I said the other day that the secret to this division is matching the effort and hard work of the opposition and then hoping your ability comes through.

“We will go to County confident, but we have to expect a really tough game.”

Posh have sold over 1,400 tickets ahead of the game and expect many more to buy tickets on the day meaning it should be a decent gate.

Former Posh skipper Grant McCann is hoping he and the rest of the players can keep up their unbeaten start and send the travelling fans home with a smile on their face as he tweeted: “Sounds like there’s going to be a good turnout of Posh Fans at County tomorrow, hopefully we can send you all home happy.”
