Peterborough United held the League One leaders Gillingham to a draw on Saturday. What else happened in the latest round of matches in League One?

Kyle Vassell strikes the bar v Gillingham

After losing three out of their four League fixtures, Posh faced the daunting task of entertaining League One leaders Gillingham at the ABAX Stadium.

They didn`t have to worry too much as Posh put in arguably their best 90-minute performance of the season. Both Posh and the Gills created chances and hit the woodwork but it wasn`t until five minutes from the end that the deadlock was broken. The Gills players celebrated as if they`d won promotion but their joy was short lived as Posh equalised just as the fourth official was raising his board to show four added minutes.

Gills manager Justin Edinburgh was disgusted with the referee as he thought a Posh player was offside for the equaliser?but there again, his side should`ve been reduced to 10-men earlier in the contest!

The draw saw Posh stay in 18th place while Gillingham dropped from top spot to 4th place although the Gills do remain unbeaten in the League so far.

There are two other teams in League One who have yet to face defeat. Oldham Athletic have won just one of their five games but have drawn the other four while the new leaders of League One, with four wins and a draw, are Walsall.

Walsall cemented their place at the top with a very comfortable 4-0 win at basement side Blackpool. Blackpool look like they could do the same as Yeovil Town last season and suffer two successive relegations unless they can pick things up.

Swindon Town and Sheffield United met in the play-off semi-final last year but the tables were turned on Saturday when the Blades maintained their winning run to four matches and they now sit in second place.

The current League Two champions, Burton Albion, have also made an excellent start to life in League One. They faced Shrewsbury Town at the weekend, who themselves were promoted last season, but it was the reigning champions who won the match one-nil. The Brewers are in third place, level on points with the Blades while the Shrews are struggling in 21st place.

Former Premiership side Wigan Athletic are slowly finding their feet and despite losing on all their travels so far, they are unbeaten at home in the League with the latest win coming against perennial strugglers Crewe Alexandra. The Latics now sit in 11th place with the Alex in 23rd!

Like Posh, Barnsley were expected to do well this season and, like Posh, they suffered defeat when they travelled to Rochdale. The Tykes conceded one more than Posh though as the match ended 3-0 to Dale. Rochdale have only suffered one defeat so far and sit in 5th place while Barnsley dropped down to 12th.

Looking at the bottom four, we`ve already mentioned three of the teams with the other team being Southend United who play their fifth match of the season tonight at Coventry City.

All the results from the latest round of matches are as follows:

SATURDAY 18th AUGUST 2015

The next round of matches are at the weekend although as it`s international weekend there could be some matches postponed. So far just one match has been called off and that is Sheffield United`s match against Colchester United.

Should Posh`s match go ahead (they could have three players away on international duty), they will kick-off at 12:05pm with the match being televised.
