The transfer window closes tomorrow night, and with rumours persisting of an imminent departure of star player Marcus Maddison, the Posh have been linked with a £250k move for Huddersfield Town’s 23 year old winger, Joe Lolley.
Peterborough United bid for the former Kidderminster Harriers wide man and reportedly had a big accepted, but Huddersfield stole in and snapped up the player with the lure of Championship football being too good to refuse for the midfielder at the time. However, things haven’t gone quite to plan since his move to the John Smith’s Stadium – an injury hit season last season saw him fall down the pecking order, and out of favour with current Terriers’ manager, Chris Powell.
The ability and potential of the player is clear to see, as he netted an impressive 88 goals in 83 appearances for Midland League Division One side, Littleton, as a teenager. It was from Littleton where he was picked up by Conference National side, Kidderminster Harriers, where he went on to play 21 games, scoring 9 goals in the process during his year with the Reds. It was during this year where his services were sought by the Posh, before he moved to Huddersfield at the start of the 2014-15 season. He has managed 24 games for the Terriers since his move from Aggborough, and has 4 goals to his name.
But if the rumours are true, it seems Peterborough United have remained admirers of the tricky winger, and have set their sites on acquiring his services before the transfer deadline reaches us.
