Vital Posh looks at the form of both Middlesbrough and Peterborough United ahead of the clash at the Riverside Stadium on New Year`s Eve.

These two sides have already met twice this season, once in the Carling Cup where Boro ran out 2-0 winners before drawing 1-1 in the League. Both games were played at London Road.

Middlesbrough

Boro come into the game on the back of a 1-0 home win over Hull City on Boxing Day. This result makes it two 1-0 wins at home on the trot.

So far this season at home, they have won five, drawn six and lost just once. They have scored 14 goals, conceding 9.

Middlesbrough`s only home defeat of the season came at the end of November when they lost 2-0 to West Ham United.

Middlesbrough are currently in 3rd place with 44 points from 23 games and are only out of the automatic promotion place on goal difference.

Peterborough United

Posh are on a three game unbeaten run with clean sheets in their last two games. Their last game saw them win 1-0 away at Nottingham Forest thanks to a George Boyd goal.

Posh had gone five games without a win before back to back 1-0 wins over Coventry City and last weeks opponents Nottingham Forest.

So far this season away from home, Posh have won three, drawn three and lost six.

Posh have netted 16 times away from home this season, conceding 20 goals on the way. Only Doncaster have conceded more on their travels.

Top scorer is injured skipper Grant McCann who has scored 8 goals this season.

Posh are currently in 13th place with 31 points from 23 games. Five points off the play-offs and ten points from relegation.
