Leeds United have completed the signing of Peterborough United striker Nicky Ajose.

Nicky Ajose agrees 3-year contract at Leeds United

Posh held their squad photo session at London Road yesterday but just prior to that happening, Ajose made for a quick exit sparking rumours that he was about to be sold. That rumour has now been confirmed as Ajose has today completed a medical at Championship side Leeds United.

Posh Chairman Darragh MacAnthony, as usual, confirmed his departure via twitter: “Wishing Nick Ajose all the best with his transfer to @LUFC today now done & dusted.”

Ajose has put pen to paper on a three-year contract at Elland Road with the fee rumoured to be in the region of £150,000 plus add-ons.

There is no doubting that Ajose has got an excellent footballing brain but a combination of bad luck (with injuries), lack of self-motivation and the fact that Darren Ferguson just didn`t know where or how to get the best out of Ajose saw the striker endure a difficult time at London Road.

Posh signed Ajose from Manchester United in 2011 for £300,000 and after suffering an injury on his debut, he failed to break into the Posh side until the later stages of last season after he`d had a good first-half of the season on loan at Swindon Town where he scored 10 goals.

Ajose added a further seven goals to his goal tally after he returned to Posh but he was often second choice or was played out of position.

With one-year left on his contract, his torment has finally come to an end though but it is surprising that he has got himself a move to the Championship. He could turn out to be an excellent acquisition as he certainly knows where the goal is but the hard part will be getting the best out of him.

All the best Nicky. Hopefully you can settle at Leeds and start firing in the goals.
