Northern Clubs Looking At Jack Baldwin

Peterborough United central defender Jack Baldwin has already turned down the approaches from Scottish Premier League runners-up Aberdeen but could the likes of Championship side Bolton Wanderers or League One rivals Sunderland be any more attractive to the 24-year-old?

Baldwin only signed a new two-year contract last summer and was captain throughout the season, but he was placed on the transfer list at the end of the season after an indifferent year.

There is no doubt you can question his commitment but he often has calamitous periods during most games which result in a booking, sending off or an own goal!

That hasn’t stopped the likes of the Black Cats or the Trotters from taking an interest according to media reports.

Posh paid out £500,000 in January 2014 when signing the defender from Hartlepool United which could’ve risen to £750k if all the add-ons had been triggered. There was also a sell-on fee as part of that deal but as Posh are looking to sell for around half the original amount paid, the Monkey Hangers won’t be entitled to anything.

Whoever manages to sign Baldwin will have a decent defender on their books and if he can cut out the mistakes, then he could become a top player, even in the Championship.
