Peterborough United left-back Kgosi Ntlhe will be on the sidelines for another two months after undergoing an operation.

Kgosi Ntlhe v Rochdale

Posh left-back Kgosi Ntlhe pulled up with a toe injury during the home defeat to Sheffield United in mid-August and had hoped to make his comeback soon but suffered a setback in training this week.

He has now undergone surgery on his ligaments in an attempt to solve the problem which means he will now be out of action for a further two months.

Speaking to Radio Cambridgeshire, caretaker boss Grant McCann said: “He trained with us last week with the physio, he was running and doing everything he was asked of him, but had a setback.”

With Ntlhe missing, it means Posh will either look to Andrew Fox, a right midfielder they signed in the summer to cover left-back, and loanee Callum Elder [pictured below].

Callum Elder v Gillingham

Fox went out on loan to Kidderminster Harriers on the day Ntlhe injured his toe but has now returned to the ABAX. Fox is said to have had a good, busy month with the Harriers but Tim Flowers said: “Barry Fry had said that if anything happens to the first choice left-back at Peterborough then [Fox] is the next one in, so wanted to get some football in to him.

“He`s had the chance to come and play games? he`s a nice lad and has contributed to the group, but he`ll go back now and we`ll have a look at one or two other options.”

Whether Fox is the “next one in” is up for debate after Posh signed Leicester City defender Callum Elder [pictured above] on a one-month loan deal on 29th August and has done very well in the four games he has played.

McCann likes the look of Elder as well and is keen to extend the Leicester City players stay at the ABAX as he said: “I’ve spoken to Callum and Barry Fry and I’ll speak to the chairman about it, but he’s definitely one I’d like to keep here.

‘He’s a good player, the lads like him and he’s a great player to have around the place.’
