Posh entertained MK Dons tonight, at London Road, knowing a win would take them to within one point of their opponents and enhance their chances of gaining that much valued automatic promotion place.

But it wasn`t to be as the points were to be shared in a 0-0 draw.

As expected Tom Williams wasn`t fit enough to play and Charlie Lee deputised. For the opposition a face from the past was gracing the bench, Tore Andre Flo.

The early action saw Gueret claim a cross from Keates, immediately, MK Dons responded and Lewis had to save to deny Lewington. Lewis was then called into action to save a Leven shot but the official, Graham Salisbury, had already blown for handball.

Just before the quarter of an hour mark Gueret did well to save a Boyd shot as Posh went for that vital breakthrough. Leven, proving to be a thorn in our side, then had a shot blocked by Morgan. Just past the mid-point of the first half Mackail-Smith screwed a shot wide form close range.

As we passed the half hour mark chances were proving to be few and far between with a lot of the action confined to he middle third of the pitch. Gueret was then forced to save as Martin tried his luck. Posh tried to eek out a chance but Gueret was proving to be masterful at claiming crosses.

Just before half time Gueret was forced into action saving well from both Boyd and McLean as Posh tried to force the issue.

Half time declared with MK Dons just shading the possession but Posh having the edge with regards to shots.

No changes were made by either Ferguson or Di Matteo for the second half and Gueret was soon in action saving from Mackail-Smith. MK Dons forced a corner and Lewis did well to claim it. MK Dons were pushing forward and a second corner in the space of a minute was cleared by Morgan.

Lewis was then forced to save a shot from the MK Dons youngster, Sam Baldock. Lee the saw his shot go wide as the action switched from end to end. Just before the hour mark Di Matteo brought on the ex-Manchester United youngster, Luke Chadwick.

Martin then shot wide as the game entered tits last half hour. Di Matteo brought on Stirling but it was Posh that had the next effort on target when Mackail-Smith once again shot wide. Zakuani, defending, was then forced to block a Wilbraham shot.

As we entered the last fifteen minutes of the game Boyd forced a save out of Gueret and a Martin header drifted wide of the post. As time began to run out you got the feeling that the spoils would be shared although Batt, on for Whelpdale, was doing his best to break the deadlock with some telling crosses.

With three minutes of normal time remaining McLean produced a cross that saw Mackail-Smith, once again, fire wide. In the last minute Posh forced two corners but it just wasn`t going to happen and when Gueret saved from Coutts in injury time you knew it was going to end all square.
