Three defeats on the bounce for Oldham so what do the manager, players and fans think about the match and result?

The Manager Speaks

Oldham manager Lee Johnson was rightfully pleased with his sides performance but was gutted at the final result especially as his side couldn`t nicked a share of the points with the last touch of the ball: “How Tarky`s not put his foot on that one at the end I will never know. He will have nightmares about it.

“Territorially I thought we dominated the game pretty much from start to finish and the only disappointment was the two bad goals we conceded.

“I didn`t know what to do at the end because I was so pleased with the performance, but so down with the result.

“There`s a way to lose and last week wasn`t the way and this week was. And to sum it up, it was a fantastic performance and heartache we didn`t come away with at least one point as we could have nicked an equaliser at the end.

“Trust me if we continue to play like that, we will be fine.”

After scoring four goals in their first League match, they have since gone goalless in their last two and this is something Johnson wanted to improve on. He certainly got his wish as his side caused a number of problems for the Posh back line with goalkeeper Bobby Olejnik called into action a couple of times. However, the keeper could do nothing about the Latics goal as it came from a peach of a cross into the penalty area by Connor Brown and was met by the head of substitute Charlie MacDonald.

“We didn`t want to go another game without a goal. We looked as though we were going to score which was a good sign,” he explained.

Johnson was also full of praise for the travelling fans that numbered nearly 400 by saying: “We gave them something to shout about. I think they will go home appreciative that we gave it a good go and they can trust this team will keep going.”

Latics Fans Comments

There were varying comments from Latics fans. Below is just a selection of their comments on the match:

Phillip John Hopkins

“Can’t believe the negativity.

A new team of the manager’s own making, three games in with a good win and two narrow defeats..yet people are talking of too many losses and bad decisions. The team has yet to gel and who can honestly say that Dickov’s assembly of last-minute loan players was any better?

Patience went out the window with all the ‘now-now-now’ technology we have these days.

Pathetic.”

Flynn Bradley

“Out of those people who are slating us here, were you at the game? I was and we battered them all the way through and even there managers and players say we were better and deserved more, 3 games in … KTF”

Myles Davis

“We played fantastic, they had two shots…. we dominated! unlucky to get the 3 points let alone 1! Keep the faith!”
