With Ferguson now history and Cooper declared as the new king, the good people of Posh Football Club are looking towards the future.

Prior to the appointment being made, Darragh MacAnthony had implied that he`d had something like 200 applications for the job.

Reading between the lines it looks as if these were whittled down to six possible contenders with Darragh telling BBC Radio Cambridgeshire,

“I spent three days in Peterborough staying in a hotel and I saw six people.”

“Some were previous international managers and ex-England internationals, foreign managers and managers with experience.”

“But there was one who stood out and who wanted it the most, and that was Mark Cooper.”

“He impressed me like you wouldn`t believe.”

“He and Nicky Eaden did their homework and reviewed 16 tapes of our games overnight.”

“They watched footage of our team and knew about our squad. They wanted to know about They watched footage of our team and knew about our squad. They wanted to know about the new ground, our club A to Z, about the youth set-up, the new stadium and how they could help.”

Here`s re-iterating what we mentioned earlier, let`s hope Darragh has judged this one correctly!
