Posh – December – the Mother of all Months?

November has finished and it`s been, points-wise, a good month.

Sadly, form-wise, it`s dropped off a bit since we scraped past non-league AFC Hornchurch in the FA Cup.

We`ve not been as fluent as we`d like and with December being a crucial month, it`s essential we get that fluency back, especially as we`ll play part of the month without our defensive lucky charm, Gabriel Zakuani.

Our manager, Darren Fergsuon, is well aware of that fact and has spoken about what lies ahead, remarking,

‘It is a huge month – easily the biggest since I have been at the club”.

‘Promotion certainly isn’t going to be won or lost in December, but it is a month in which we can lay down our marker by getting ourselves up into the top two.”

‘We have already established ourselves in the top group of teams and hopefully we can take the next step, although we obviously have some very difficult games over the next few weeks.”

‘But I am confident that we will again start performing better than we have in some recent games.’

‘It is a fact that all teams will go through a dip in form at some stage of a season and that is what we have been experiencing.”

‘We haven’t been anywhere near the right standard lately but we have still shown some great character to get something from games.”

‘We are fifth in the league and on a long unbeaten run so it can’t all be doom and gloom by any stretch of the imagination, but there is no doubt that we have been poor in the last three or four games.”

‘But I have full belief in the players here at the club and they have to keep believing in themselves.’

In the top two by the time the festive period end, now wouldn`t that be an achievement!
