After a glut of goals earlier in the season the goals have, surprisingly, dried up for Aaron McLean and Craig Mackail-Smith.

The dynamic duo, who fired us to promotion last season have hit that proverbial brick wall with only Mackail-Smith scoring, against AFC Hornchurch, in recent weeks.

Thankfully, the confidence that strikers thrive on doesn`t appear to be missing in an interview given to the local media.

Aaron, who has struggled to reach the high level of performance he`d previously shown since dislocating his elbow against Bristol Rovers has remarked,

‘I could maybe have got a few more goals this season by this stage but with the injury it has been a bit harder for me.”

‘I have been looking at games we have played and thought maybe I could have done this or that, but overall I am pleased with the way it is going and I know the goals will start to flow soon.”

‘Last season both myself and Craig had our critics but we proved them wrong and I am sure we can do that again this season.”

‘Scoring goals at this level is not a problem for either of us and I am sure we can do it in the Championship too.’

Here at Vital Posh we don`t think its time to panic yet, especially when you consider that between them they`ve already netted a respectable twenty goals this season, far more than most striking partnerships in the division.

Let`s all hope that this tally is added to against Stockport this weekend.
