With the first week of pre-season already under their belts, the Peterborough United squad, along with the Posh youth squad, flew out to the Republic of Ireland this morning for a mini tour.

During the tour the first team squad face matches against Shelbourne and UCD while the youths will face a UCD side as well. Every player will get a run out in one or both matches as the Posh management look to build up the players match fitness.

The matches will be the first since the official announcement of Jack Payne signing permanently for Posh and the un-official news of Dwight Gayle signing for Crystal Palace.

Shelbourne are the first opponents tomorrow night. The Dublin side are currently bottom of the Airtricity Premier Division having won just two of their 18 matches so far this season.

The youths then face UCD at 4pm on Wednesday while the first team play the UCD first team in the evening. UCD are doing better than their Dublin counterparts as they are three places and eight points better off than Shelbourne.

Posh won`t be looking too much at the result, although a win will obviously be nice, as they mix and match the teams.

Once they get back from the tour, they will then face another week of pre-season training before their next match?a home fixture against one of last seasons relegated sides, QPR, on Saturday, 13th July. This match will kick-off at 3pm.
