As we predicted in our lead article yesterday (Monday) we had our doubts that the fixture, against MK Dons tonight would go ahead.

With freezing temperatures predicted for Monday night, dropping as low as minus 7, we were proven right.

Even with the London Road pitch covered and with further assistance from heat blowers, the icy weather had the last word.

The fixture was called off at lunchtime when the match referee, Kevin Wright, inspected what lay beneath the covers only to find it frozen.

Speaking about the decision, Wright had this to say,

“The temperature is currently at zero and is still frozen.”

“The first thing I have to think about is the safety of the players and the pitch is only gong to get worse.”

Here at Vital Posh we`d like to congratulate the official for doing the decent thing and calling off the fixture early.

There`s nothing worse than a late decision after several thousand spectators have already set off for the stadium.
