On Saturday those two set piece goals, inside ninety seconds, more or less sealed our fate.

As we look to return to winning ways with a trip to Tranmere, Darren Ferguson has spoken about the need to tighten the defence.

However, in all fairness Darren does recognise that matters were not helped when James Chester pulled out with an injury after damaging an ankle in a tackle with Craig Mackail-Smith in training followed by Charlie Lee injuring a calf early on.

Speaking about the situation Darren remarked,

‘The changes didn’t help, but there are no real excuses for defending that poorly. We have started letting in bad goals at bad times.”

‘We knew they would be dangerous from set-pieces. They have some big players and we are not the biggest and losing Charlie, who is one of our best headers of the ball, so early was a real blow.”

It`ll be interesting to see who has recovered sufficiently to start against Tranmere!

We understand that Chris Whelpdale may fill in at full back.
