It`s interesting what creeps out of the woodwork once a player`s name is in the headlines.

In this unfortunate instance, the player in question, Calum Davenport, lies in hospital not knowing whether he`ll play again after a savage stabbing attack in Bedfordshire at the weekend.

Nevertheless, it hasn`t stopped rumours emerging that posh were almost on the verge of luring the defender away from West Ham to London Road prompting Barry Fry to remark,

“I have no knowledge of any interest in Calum. He’s a top player, but West Ham paid £3 million for him and his wages would be out of our range.’

That couldn`t be any clearer and we wish Calum well as he lies in hospital.
