It`s a transfer that may, just may still come off.
A little something deep inside of me suggests that Ryan Bennett may still become a Posh player and that Grimsby will see sense and use his transfer fee to rebuild their squad.
With Posh having made two official approaches there was a lot of speculation as to how much cash was offered for the teenage defender. It appears it was a considerable sum as our owner has helped clear up matters by remarking about the failure to sign him,
‘We of course missed out on Bennett which annoyed me big time as we put together a deal that would have earned Grimsby up to a million over time and I am sure it would have allowed them to bring in four or five good players that may have given them a good push in League Two”
‘I can appreciate when a club doesn’t want to sell its best assets and that’s fine if you are already competing at the top end of a league, but it may not be too prudent when you need to improve your squad.”
Some harsh words there but you`ll not find many a person prepared to argue against them!
