I`m still trying to digest the news that George Boyd has jumped ship!
Yesterday my emotions went through the whole range. I was delighted to read that George had a gut feeling he`d stay with Posh, at least until the end of the season, despite the apparent ongoing interest from Middlesbrough.
Less than sixty minutes later, I was down in the dumps after discovering that George had received an offer from Nottingham Forest that was too good to turn down, a no-brainer I think he called it.
No I have no problems with George going, sitting back and thinking about it last night I came to the conclusion that it was always going to happen, a club like ours, a club heading back to League One after a disastrous season, was never going to tempt George to extend his contract.
Therefore, Barry Fry, when talking about not wanting to run George`s contract down and receiving nothing for the player, most certainly had a point. However, this morning sifting through the tabloids I`m a little aghast to read that if all goes well for George besides the River Trent he could sign a permanent deal, with Nottingham Forest, for as little as £1.5 million!
If you ask me, especially when you consider some of the cash that has been spent in recent years, somebody is going to get a right bargain and it pains me to say it but it looks as if Posh could, probably due to circumstances beyond their control, be the fall-guys.
