When I got back from Essex I was a bit of a mess but, in the circumstances, that`s understandable.
We may have never really been under that much pressure form Colchester but the events going on over at the MK Dons Stadium were enough to thin the air and see the nails chewed before the news filtered through that MK Dons, despite seven minutes played of stoppage time, had lost.
Like Darren Ferguson had intimated in his pre-match press conference, I too had my suspicions that this promotion campaign was going right to the wire. But, sitting in the away end, that strange tingle you get that signals a magical moment alerted me to the fact that this might just be the day.
But, at times, everything seemed to be a haze, at times I couldn`t make out what was happened, anxiety was playing strange tricks and it appears similar feelings were felt by our owner who commented afterwards,
“During the game I was sitting like a zombie. I felt like I needed some valium! But I guess it`s what being a chairman is all about.”
Chairman! Owner! Supporter! Everyone was in the same boat on Saturday!
