The Sunday newspapers have been reporting of a £2 million move to the Stadium of Light, making him the next big money departure from London Road. Posh director of football, Barry Fry, has conceded that Maddison could leave before the transfer deadline if a sufficient bid is made.

“Marcus scores spectacular goals and he will be the next player we have taken from non-league who goes on to play in the Premier League. If someone offers enough money before Tuesday he will go, if they don`t then we will hang onto him.”

Marcus Maddison celebrates goal number 1 v Colchester

Maddison is one of the few players who have made a good start to this season, having already notched 4 goals in the opening 5 league games. Maddison had a blistering start to last season before picking up an injury. He failed to find his form following his return to the team, but has had no such problems this campaign.

Darragh MacAnthony tweeted yesterday to inform Posh fans that he was in the market for another winger, which would suggest there will be movement out of the club, also.

Maddison started his career at Newcastle, and also played for Gateshead before moving to Posh, so a move back to the North East would probably suit him over Leicester and Bournemouth, who have also apparently expressed an interest in the winger.

So will there be movement before Tuesday, will Maddison become the next Posh player in the Premier League?
