Hooper, from Wiltshire, started refereeing aged 15 and was appointed to the National Referees List in 2008.

He has refereed 25 games so far this season, showing 69 yellow cards and seven red.

This will be his tenth Championship appointment this term. His last Championship game was Blackpool’s 3-1 win over Brighton and Hove Albion last Saturday.

He has only had one Posh game before and that was back in March 2009 when Posh visited Leyton Orient for a League One match which Posh won 3-2. Three yellow cards were issued by Hooper with all three going to Posh players – Charlie Lee, Tom Williams and George Boyd.

The last time Hooper refereed the Royals was on Boxing Day last year when they enjoyed a 3-0 win at home to Brighton.
