Experienced referee Chris Sarginson takes charge of this top three clash between Posh and former Premier League side Wigan Athletic.

Sarginson is in his 10th full season as a Football League official during which time he has officiated Posh eleven times and the Latics just twice!

The last time the Staffordshire-based referee took charge of a Posh match, three players received their marching orders! It was in a League One match at the ABAX Stadium between Posh and Rochdale last February.

The visitors were first to have a player sent off when, on the stroke of half-time, Joe Rafferty received a second yellow card. By that time, Posh were winning two-one after Jack Baldwin and Tom Nichols had fired Posh into a two-goal lead before Joe Thompson pulled a goal back.

Before the final goal of the game was scored by Posh striker Paul Taylor, two other players had gone for an early shower. Seven minutes into the second-half saw Dales Donal McDermott receive a straight red card before current Posh captain Jack Baldwin picked up a second yellow card with 10 minutes of the match remaining.

The Latics have only had the pleasure of Sarginson twice with both matches coming in the last couple of seasons. The first time was in the 2015/16 season when the Latics drew one-all at Scunthorpe United. Both sides picked up one yellow card each.

The last time Wigan has Sarginson was earlier this season when they hosted Blackpool in the first round of the Carabao Cup. The Latics won two-one thanks to two first-half goals while they also picked up the only yellow card of the match.

The last match Sarginson refereed was just over a week ago when Oxford United hosted Bradford City in a League One match. The match finished two-all with both sides scoring a goal in the final three minutes of the game! Just one ywllow card was shown during the game which went to the Yellows Joe Rothwell.

His statistics for the last few seasons in the Football League are:

2017/18 – 8 matches – 5 home wins – 2 away wins – 1 draw
2016/17 – 41 matches – 14 home wins – 16 away wins – 11 draws
2015/16 – 31 matches – 15 home wins – 10 away wins – 6 draws
