The man in charge of the Sky Bet League One match between Swindon Town and Peterborough United is MARK HAYWOOD.

West Yorkshire based referee Haywood takes charge of his second Posh match of the season following the JP Trophy win over Dagenham & Redbridge in November. On that occasion, Michael Bostwick was the only recipient of a yellow card while Britt Assombalonga scored the only goal of the game.

Haywood also refereed Posh on three occasions last season when going down 1-0 to Nottingham Forest, 3-1 at Derby County but we did win 1-0 at Blackpool!

Married with four daughters, Haywood began refereeing in 1993 in West Yorkshire. He decided to become a referee after being challenged by a work colleague who was already a match official and afterwards said: ‘I took the course and learnt more in six weeks than I had seen in 28 years as a fan.’

Haywood rose through the West Yorkshire and Northern Premier Leagues to reach the national list of assistant referees in 2002. In 2006, Haywood was promoted into the national list of referees and he has since refereed both the FA Vase and FA Trophy Quarter-Finals, and the 2010 Unibond League Final.

Swindon last had Haywood officiate one of their matches in April 2013 in their 2-0 defeat at MK Dons. Five yellow cards were shown in that match with all of them going to Robins players!

So far this season, Haywood has officiated 19 matches showing 43 yellow cards and four red cards. His last match came on the last weekend of 2013 when he took charge of the Shrewsbury Town defeat to Preston North End. An 80th minute own goal gave the visitors all three points while the Lilywhites also received both the yellow cards shown during the match.

The assistant referees for the Robins v Posh clash are Antony Coggins and Grant Taylor. The fourth official is Adam Matthews.
