The man in charge of the Sky Bet League One match between Tranmere Rovers and Peterborough United is JEREMY SIMPSON.

Hot on the heels of last weeks awful referee Tony Harrington comes another referee in his second full season in the Football League!!

Lancashire based referee Simpson only joined the Football League list on a full time basis in 2012/13. He had the odd League Two game in 2011/12 but refereed 26 League and Cup matches last season showing 81 yellow cards and 5 red cards. He refereed just one Championship match last season which saw Barnsley win 3-2 away at Middlesbrough.

His biggest haul of cards in a single match last season was seven yellows at Oldham v Yeovil right at the end of the season. He started this season off with a bang as well booking four players and sending one off as Leyton Orient won 5-1 at Carlisle. Carlisle`s Lee Miller was sent off in the 31st minute when the O`s were winning 1-0. The four yellow cards were shared equally between the two sides.

Posh have yet to experience Simpson as a referee while Tranmere have only had the Lancashire based referee once before. That came in their goalless draw with Walsall in November last year. Two yellow cards were issued in that match with one card being shown to each side.

Simpson has refereed three matches so far this season. As well as the Carlisle match on the opening day of the season, he has taken charge of the Capital One Cup match between Exeter and QPR, which the R`s won 2-0, and the Championship match between Barnsley and Charlton Athletic last Saturday.

No cards were shown in the Cup match with two being shown in the Barnsley match.

The assistant referees for the Tranmere Rovers v Posh match are Paul Graham and David Plowright. The fourth official is Mark Astley.
