It`s the opening day of the football season. Can Posh start with a win? Will the highly facied relegated teams start with a bang? Can the promoted teams continue their winning form?

After having an away fixture at Rochdale for the last few seasons, Posh finally get a home fixture and it`s not against Rochdale! Instead it`s against the League Two runners-up Plymouth Argyle.

The Green Army will bring a large number of fans with them from Devon but will their 567 mile round trip be a happy one?

Both sides have seen a large number of players leave and arrive at their club which could result in a disjointed performance. Most opening matches of the season are usually close. Will either side end up with all three points or will they share the spoils?

WHAT DO YOU THINK THE POSH v PILGRIMS SCORE WILL BE? PREDICT THE SCORE HERE.

All three teams relegated from the Championship face away fixtures. Blackburn Rovers face the longest trip of the three as they head to Essex to face Southend United who finished one place and one point outside the play-offs last season.

Wigan Athletic will also be traveling south but only to Milton Keynes to take on the Dons. Last season was the first season back in League One for the Dons having spent just one season in the Championship. They finished a disappointing 12th last season but they are joint fourth favourites, for some unknown reason, to win the League One title this season!

Rotherham United were the other side to be relegated but they are facing a trip to the north west to face a Fleetwood Town side who narrowly lost in the play-off semi-finals last season. They`ve seen a number of players leave during the summer including former Posh striker David Ball who coincidentally signed for the Millers!

What about the teams that were promoted from League Two?

We already know who Plymouth are playing while Blackpool are the only other promoted side to face an away fixture. They have a very tough looking match at last seasons losing play-off finalists Bradford City.

Doncaster Rovers and Portsmouth both have home fixtures with Darren Fergusons Rovers hosting a Gillingham side who have had some impressive pre-season results while Pompey face a side Posh usually play on the opening day of the season?Rochdale!

The first round of League One fixtures are:
