Former Peterborough United midfielder Danny Swanson has put pen to paper on a two-year contract at League One rivals Coventry City.

Danny Swanson signs for Coventry City - 03-Jul-2014

The Scottish midfielder arrived at London Road two-years ago with much promise but in his time at the club, he has flattered to deceive. On in the latter stages of last season when he was in the form of his life, or rather the form of his Posh career, did he show what potential he had and was a key player for Posh as they battled for a play-off place.

Sadly for Swanson and Posh, that form came to an end following an injury picked up at London Road against Coventry City. Posh were in stunning form until Swanson was forced off with the injury which really restricted him when he did briefly return to the side.

After a start-stop time at Posh which saw the midfielder play 79 times (over 30 of which were from the substitutes bench!), Swanson decided to depart the club despite being offered a new contract.

He had hoped to go to Aberdeen but nothing could be sorted out and has now agreed terms on a two-year deal with League One rivals Coventry City. He is the first new signing made by the Sky Blues this summer.

Sky Blues boss told the official Coventry City website: “Danny is an exciting, technically gifted footballer who provides a real threat out side and I`m delighted to get him.

“We were not the only club looking to sign him so to get a deal done that brings him here is great news.

“He`s got great footballing intelligence, he has a great attitude and he`s hungry for success which makes him a perfect fit for us.”
