The Vital Posh Man of the Match Poll for the Sky Bet League One match against Port Vale is now up and running.

Kyle Vassell heads in goal number two v Port Vale

Posh put their Cup disappointment behind them to add another three points to their League tally and remain at the top of League One.

Port Vale weren`t the easy opposition some fans expecting but there were some exceptional performances by Posh players which obviously went unnoticed by the sponsors who voted for their man of the match.

Christian Burgess put in a very impressive performance in the heart of the Posh defence and his partnership with Jack Baldwin looks like it could be a very good one with lots of potential.

Jack Payne also had an excellent game mopping up everything in midfield and controlling the game. He even capped his performance with a stunning goal.

The wide men will obviously earns the plaudits of many as they have brought speed, skill and excitement back to the team. Marcus Maddison scored his second goal in three games since signing from Gateshead and his trickery often caused problems for the opposition. Jon Taylor also caused major problems for Vale with his speed and deadball precision. It was Taylor`s freekick that found the head of Vassell for goal number two.

Michael Smith also had a good game at left-back. Kgosi Ntlhe failed to recover from a knock meaning Smith switched over from his normal right-back position but he combined well down the left hand side as well as dealing with any threat posed by Vale.

Luke James started his first match for Posh and it has to be said was a bit of a disappointment. He put the effort in, as did his strike partner Conor Washington, but neither looked like scoring. Washington was through on goal once in the game but struck his shot straight at the keeper. The ball bounced to James for his only real chance of the game but he blazed his shot over the bar!
