After the sacking of Posh boss Grant McCann at the weekend, his assistant, David Oldfield, stepped up to the plate for the second time in seven years to take charge of first team affairs.

Oldfield made five changes to the starting line-up although two were enforced due to injuries. Things didn`t start out well for Oldfield as he witnessed a disappointing start which saw Walsall score with their first shot on target after nine minutes!

Posh did respond and got better as the match went on and not even a poor penalty miss from Marcus Maddison could dent the hopes of Posh as they went on to score a goal in each half of the snow laden ABAX Stadium.

Omar Bogle got his first ever goal for Posh after his loan move from Cardiff City but he always seemed flat footed and slow off the mark. The winner, which many sites have credited to Posh captain Jack Baldwin whose shot from the edge of the box was tipped in by Steven Taylor.

Baldwin played very well throughout the match as he partnered Taylor in the centre of defence while Michael Doughty arguably had his best match in a Posh shirt playing in a deeper midfield role.

Oldfield will be delighted to have won to make his record as caretaker Posh boss as two wins from two but will he still be employed by Posh after Posh appointed Steve Evans this morning as the new manager?
The victory saw Posh move up two places to 8th, three points from the play-offs and with a game in hand but the team between them and the play-offs is a point ahead of Posh and have a game in hand on Posh! The Saddlers stayed in 17th place, five points above the relegation places.

What did you think to the performances of the Posh players and David Oldfield?

Rate the players below and the player with the best rating will win the Man of the Match.
