Young Peterborough United forward Jonson Clarke-Harris has signed a permanent contract with League One rivals Oldham Athletic.

Clarke-Harris joined Posh in a veil of secrecy from Coventry City but couldn`t sign until after his 18th birthday. On putting pen to a two-year Posh contract, he was described as being one of the best young properties in football but sadly, he failed to make any appearances for Posh before moving out on loan to get much needed first team chances.

The 18-year-old moved up north to join fellow Posh loanee Nicky Ajose at Bury. He played twelve times for the Lancashire club coming off the bench on eight occasions. Despite the number of times he was on the bench, the forward still ended up joint second top scorer for The Shakers with four goals!

A one in three goalscoring ratio is not to be sniffed at in League One especially when two thirds of his appearances were from the bench and in a team that struggled and were relegated and the fact that he is just 18-years-old.

Oldham Athletic have paid a nominal fee for the youngster who has a lot of potential and could, with experience, play at a much higher level than League One. Hopefully he won`t come back to haunt Posh!

With the likes of Jaanai Gordon-Hutton and Shaq McDonald coming through the ranks at Posh, it may be seen that one of their prize young forwards was surplus to demands.

Vital Posh wishes Clarke-Harris all the best luck with his new team.
