The man in charge of the npower Championship match between Peterborough United and Nottingham Forest is MARK HAYWOOD.

Married with four daughters, Haywood began refereeing in 1993 in West Yorkshire, and rose through the West Yorkshire and Northern Premier Leagues to reach the national list of assistant referees in 2002.

Haywood was promoted into the national list of referees in 2006 and he has since refereed both the FA Vase and FA Trophy Quarter-Finals, and the 2010 Unibond League Final.

He decided to become a referee after being challenged by a work colleague who was already a match official and afterwards said: ‘I took the course and learnt more in six weeks than I had seen in 28 years as a fan.’.

Hayward last took charge of a Posh match towards the end of last season when Posh produced arguably one of their best performances of the season as they beat high flying Blackpool 3-1. Both sides received just one yellow card which went to Craig Alcock and Alex Baptiste.

Forest had the pleasure of Haywood refereeing them twice last season. The first time was when they lost 3-1 at home to Birmingham City before winning the penultimate match of the season 2-0 against relegation haunted Portsmouth.

Haywood has taken charge of six matches so far this season; four League One matches, one League Two match and one Capital One Cup match. Two of these matches were incident free with no cards issued whereas he issued six yellow cards in the Morecambe v Fleetwood match. Former Posh forward David Ball was an unused sub in this match.

Of the six matches, 12 yellow cards have been issued with no red cards.
